Sapphire Sunset
Violet-orange painted sky
When those summer days were mine
I roamed the meadows of my mind
Until the blue of night stole the time
Sparks of dust like those of fairies
Engulfed the air between us
And all that I could feel inside
Was the love that scratched the surface
Cars speeding past our gingham blanket
Strands of wheat flowing like an ocean
The quiet park the setting sun spanned
A blank canvas awaiting colored motion
Time ticks away, fleeting from grasp
With much to say and much to do
And as the orange and pink of light dim
The blue, sapphire hue dawns between me and you
